Read the summaries and listen to the CD dramas!
The following CD Dramas were created long before the anime (between 2000 and 2001) featuring a whole different cast, with the exception of Sister Kate’s voice, which is the same as in the anime. The first CD drama, called Hajimari no Keiyakusha ("The contractor of the beginning") is a very faithful adaptation of the first volume of the manga, with an extra original scene. The second CD drama, Eien no Jikan ("The time of eternity") contains 2 stories. The first one, “Ghost in the Watch” is an adaptation of the first chapter of the second manga volume. The second story "The time of eternity" is an original one, where Rosette, Chrno and Azmaria are forced to fight against a crowd of zombies. The third CD drama, Hajimari no Jikan ("The time of the beginning") is an adaptation of the rest of the chapters of the second manga volume that deal with Rosette’s childhood, and nicely introduces Joshua and Fiore to the plot. It also contains two songs “Windy Girl” (sung by adult Chrno and Joshua) and “Castle in the Air” (sung by Rosette and Azmaria). The fourth CD, Chrno Crusade Museum, is a collection of all the background music featured in the previous three CDs, plus a small drama scene and the complete version of the songs “Windy Girl” and “Castle in the Air”. I highly recommend the CD dramas, they are very funny and very faithful to the manga, but they’re still original enough to create new stories without destroying the personality of each one of the characters. The drama cast is excellent, and they fit the characters almost perfectly. I’m actually rather fond of Rosette and Chrno’s voices, I think they would sound the same if they were real people, also, Chrno’s “adult” voice is very…*cough*cough*sexy*cough*. Joshua’s voice, on the other hand, suits him perfectly as a teenager, but it sounds at bit weird for a child… anyway, you can find the main cast list here. I strongly encourage you to listen to the dramas, even if you don't know Japanese. You can get a good idea of what is happening by reading the summaries and by listening to the characters' tone of voice. Just click on the "download" link and/or select "save target as".
