CDI: Hajimari no Keiyakusha ("The Contractor of the Beginning")
Track 1: This story introduces Rosette and Chrno, and is based on the first chapter of the manga. Rosette receives a call at night from Sister Kate telling her to go to NY harbor due to an incident with a monster. Rosette speeds up in the convent’s car, and tries to wake Chrno, but he says he wants to sleep about 10 hours more. Annoyed, Rosette wakes him up by hitting the brakes and making him crash in the front window. They start arguing and Rosette complaints about her always being the one forced to drive, and Chrno replies that kids like him aren’t allowed to do it. Rosette then tries to guess his real age, but Chrno quickly changes the subject, and says he feels a strong force nearby, so Rosette speeds up to her assignment.
Track 2: Meanwhile, the monster is creating a huge mess in a cargo ship, but Rosette temporarily defeats it by crashing the convent’s car against it. Chrno complaints about the mess she made and tells Rosette that she just crashed the convent's car because she wants to get a new one. Rosette angrily kicks the car's door open, and everyone is amazed at seeing a nun in that place. Rosette then presents herself and her assistant Chrno as exorcists sent by the Magdalan Order, and the police officers are amazed at their ability at fighting the monster, and make a comment about how they never expected somebody so young to be assigned to that mission. Track 3: Later on, Rosette is badly scolded for all the damages she’s done by Sister Kate, who gets very angry at Rosette’s bad excuses and almost breaks Rosette’s back using a wrestling technique. They get interrupted by Remington, who just arrived at the Order, and Chrno, who just asks Rosette if she’s still alive. Rosette is very happy at seeing Remington again, and he gives Rosette a new mission in Las Vegas. Rosette gets VERY excited, though Sister Kate isn’t exactly happy, and is very worried about her, specially in regards to Chrno... Later, Rosette is really enjoying herself at Las Vegas, but she is forced by Chrno to focus on her mission instead, much to her disappointment. They hide and watch the object of her mission: a 12-year-old soprano by the name of Azmaria Hendrick, who is singing on a stage before her foster father, Ricardo Hendrick, and his mysterious servant, Lerajie. Their assignment is to rescue Azmaria from Ricardo, a well-known demon tamer who wants to use her supernatural powers for his own purposes. Rosette and Chrno separate, and Chrno is forced to keep watch outside the window while Rosette goes after Azmaria. Rosette hides inside the laundry cart, and there she meets Azmaria, who is also trying to escape from her father. They are soon found out by Lerajie, Ricardo’s servant, but Chrno interrupts them and Rosette and Azmaria are able to escape. They run over the roof of the casino and are chased by some living gargoyles, but the glass roof breaks and they fall down. Azmaria then heals all the injured people by singing a song, and Rosette and Chrno are amazed at her power. Lerajie, however, was able to recognize Chrno, and is overjoyed.. Track 4: Azmaria is now living in the Magdalan Order’s convent in NY, and she tries to keep herself busy by working hard. She tells Rosette and Chrno that she used to be part of a band of musicians before being adopted by Ricardo, and she wonders what happened to her old companions. She offers to bring tea to Sister Kate’s office, and she accidentally overhears Sister Kate and Remington talking about the mysterious disappearance of the members of her band. She is very upset after hearing this, but she pretends to be cheerful, so Rosette “kidnaps” her, and takes her in the convent’s car, along with Chrno, to a beautiful place in the countryside. Sister Kate is extremely angry, but Remington says that he knows the place where they were going, and says that he was going to pick them up later. Chrno tells Azmaria that the scenery reminds him of the place where he first met Rosette, and the three of them play in the lake for some time. Later, Rosette tells Azmaria that she should be true to herself and cry and laugh when she really felt like it. The three of them start laughing, but they are suddenly interrupted by Lerajie, who takes Azmaria away and sends a powerful attack towards Rosette and Chrno… Track 5: Rosette wakes up after being unconscious for a while, and Remington explains everything that happened to her. She is very frustrated for not being able to help Azmaria, and feels very worn-out. She suddenly realizes something and she vents her anger on Chrno after he timidly tells her that he used a bit of his powers without her consent. Rosette and Chrno hurry to Azmaria’s rescue, and they board a plane that takes them to Ricardo’s zeppelin. Ricardo is forcing Azmaria to “call” the Astral Lines so they can revive his dead wife, but Lerajie kills him and collects all the energy inside a “receptor” he was carrying with him. Rosette and Chrno arrive, and Lerajie attacks them, injuring Rosette and forcing them to retreat… Track 6: Chrno tells Rosette that Lerajie was a Pursuer he fought long ago, but that he thought he was dead. They hide in a safe place for a while to think about how to defeat him, and Rosette suddenly announces that she was going to “open” the seal of Chrno’s powers. Chrno is surprised and worried, but Rosette tells him that she couldn’t fight in her current state, and asks him to defeat Lerajie in just 10 minutes. Chrno says that the fight against Lerajie would not be an easy one for him, but Rosette reassures him and says she was going to be fine. Chrno promises her that he would defeat Lerajie for sure. Rosette then opens the seal and Chrno immediately rescues Azmaria. Lerajie is delighted at Chrno’s great power and speed, and they both start to fight. In the meantime, Rosette tells Azmaria that Chrno is a demon, and that they have a contract, meaning that Chrno was using her own lifetime as the source of his powers. She didn’t expect to live more than thirty, but she still wanted to keep fighting until the end, no matter what happened. Chrno’s time was almost up, and Lerajie, who knew that Chrno was worried about Rosette, suddenly decides to attack her instead. Rosette, however, was prepared for this, and she breaks Lerajie’s receptor using her gun. Chrno kills Lerajie just in time, but then... Track 7: Extra. Rosette and Chrno visit Azmaria in her room, and she offers to prepare some tea for them. They start talking about many things, but Chrno and Rosette soon start arguing as usual. Chrno silences Rosette by giving her a cookie, and she’s delighted, but then she starts talking about Sister Kate. Chrno and Azmaria desperately try to interrupt her, but she keeps talking until she finally realizes that Sister Kate is just behind her (whoops!). Sister Kate, annoyed, hits Rosette and then talks about all the damages that resulted from the fight against Lerajie. Rosette tries to put the blame on Chrno, but Sister Kate furiously chases her across the room and everything becomes a real chaos. This goes on for a while, until Azmaria, annoyed, angrily interrupts them. Chrno, Rosette and Sister Kate are left dumfounded, and Azmaria politely informs them that their tea is ready...
